Monochromator Skin Light Tests in Cardiff,  Newport, South Wales, Bristol and UK.

The Monochromator Skin Light Test endeavors to find out which particular wavelengths of ultra violet radiation you may be sensitive to.

If you develop severe sunburn or a rash caused or aggravated by the sun, a monochromator light test may establish which part of the solar spectrum is responsible.

The monochromator skin light test takes about one hour to complete. You will be required to return to the clinic the following day for about 15 – 30 minutes to read, assess and discuss the results. Just like sunburn the reaction of the skin to this test has a delayed response.

How does the test work?

Tiny circles (5mm in diameter) of ultra violet radiation are applied to the lower part of your back, about 24 in total. There are no significant side effects, although we do expect some of the tiny circles to go red. You may experience some mild itching of the test sites for a day or two after the test.
