Dr Chris Edwards PhD, MIPEM
Dr Chris Edwards is a Consultant Medical Physicist employed by Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust in Newport, South Wales. He runs the phototherapy service in Newport which has a national reputation for excellence. His PhD was awarded by the University of Manchester in bioengineering aspects of non-invasive measurement of skin. Dr Edwards has a special interest in the use of ultra-violet and visible light for the treatment of skin disease.
His research interests are focused on improving phototherapies for skin diseases to make them safer and more effective.
Dr Edwards has won awards for his research from the British Association of Dermatologists and the European Academy of Dermatovenereology and he is a non-ionising radiation expert member of the Radiation Protection Standing Specialist Advisory Group to the Welsh Assembly Government based in Cardiff.
Sister Beverly Gambles RGN, BA, PGCE
Sister Beverly Gambles works for Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust at the University Hospital of Wales. As Clinical Nurse Specialist she runs the phototherapy service in the Welsh Institute of Dermatology, Cardiff, South Wales. Additionally she is employed by the University of Glamorgan as a Lecturer in Dermatology Nursing. She is recognised nationally as an expert in phototherapy and has lectured extensively on phototherapy.
Sister Gambles has recently been working on developing distance learning modules at degree level for nurses who wish to gain qualifications in dermatology nursing. She runs modules on dermatology nursing for inflammatory skin diseases, biological therapies for psoriasis, dry skin, pruritus and prurigo and skin pharmacology for dermatology nurses.
Kim Wyness RGN IP BA PGCE
Kim Wyness has 30 years experience as a nurse spending 10 years in intensive care and has great empathy with patients and their families. She has 17 years experience in dermatology and has run the Acne clinic in Clear Skin since 2008. She is an independent nurse prescriber. Kim works part time as a research nurse for Aneurin Bevan University Health Board in both dermatology clinical trials and cancer clinical trials.
